Finally Have the Time to Update!

Wow! I have not been making use of this blog!

The world is different.

I guess one small upside of a statewide quarantine…

is that you finally have time for all those small projects you’ve been putting off. My apartment has certainly gotten cleaner….

After an initial few weeks of stress and anxiety, I’m happy to report that I’ve been making pretty solid use of the extra time! I’ve started a new running habit three days a week, and I’ve been using my newly free evenings to take online classes at places like One on One.

This week, I had my first class with Pat McCorkle, a major casting director based out of NYC whose office I’ve always wanted to get to know. I brought in a monologue I’ve been working on since last December, when I went out for Grad School auditions. I was lucky enough to get to do that piece about 8 or 9 times during the whole process, so I felt very confident bringing it in. I ended up very satisfied with the work I did this week: looking forward to class next week, when we’ll be working on scenes!

Most of my acting projects have been (understandably) postponed or canceled because of the pandemic, so I’ve also been keeping myself busy by running a free chess class every Saturday afternoon on Zoom. It’s been really wonderful sharing another one of my passions with a wider audience, and there aren’t many better times to start a new board-game habit than now. I’ve included the link at the bottom of this post: come and join us Saturdays at 12:30pm EDT.

I also had the privilege of joining my good friend Brian Rodriguez on his movie podcast “High School Slumber Party,” to talk about Dead Poets Society, one of my teenage self’s most formative films. If you feel like reminiscing in the joyful horror of the high school experience while talking about great movies, check it out! Link is likewise included at the end.

I’ll be doing a better job maintaining this blog going forward, especially as I have a few more exciting opportunities coming up that I’m looking forward to sharing. I’ll be posting songs, classes I’ve been teaching and taking, and all the other odds and ends. Thanks for dropping by!
